Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum

Ganga Golden Jubilee Museum or the Ganga Government Museum is situated in Bikaner in Rajasthan. Established on the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Maharaja Ganga Singh in 1937, the museum is a store house of some of the most amazing collections of artwork, history and sculptures. The museum is housed in the Lalgarh palace and is divided into numerous sections thus dividing the available artifacts as per their hierarchy and historical importance. Thus you have the Silk Robe of Shehjada Salim alongside the exquisite collection miniatures from across the desert. Sculptures from Harappan ages, Rajasthani war weaponry and Litho prints of British Empire are a few other attractions. Old photographs, trophies, shikar objects early cameras and movie projectors and weapons used by Maharaja Karni Singh the great sportsman are on view here. The Anup Library contains an extremely rare and valuable collection of Sanskrit manuscripts brought back from the Deccan by Raja Anup Singh in the 17th century. There are numerous black and white photographs of India under the British rule on display at the ground floor of the museum. Life size paintings by artists such as William Orphan, A H Mullar, etc., of Ganga Singh and a few other dignitaries of the era are also on display. But the most interesting paintings found inside the museum are of the Rajasthani miniature variety hailing from Bundi, Mewar, Raipur, Jodhpur and Bikaner. The Museum is open from 10am-5pm daily except Fridays and Gazetted holidays.
